  • Every living thing on earth needs water,
  • liquid, tangible, wet,
  • even that tiny patch of black
  • on desert sand
  • that formed its world
  • as a kind of sponge,
  • that holds the water
  • that came so briefly –
  • like love, perhaps,
  • felt once and held as memory
  • somehow sustenance,
  • against all odds
  • FEWalls
